the air conditioner is coming on in the house but the air-conditioner unit outside isn't coming on. what should i do?

Well, the first thing to do is check and see that the thermostat is set correctly. Then, check the circuit breakers and or fuses. Make sure someone didn't shut off the switch outside. See if the control wire cable at the outside unit didn't get cut by a lawn mower/weed wacker. If all this is ok, then touch base and we can dig deeper.
