I've just bought a house that was built in the 40's, and has a large enclosed porch with 12 windows. The last inhabitants of the house painted all 12 of the windows shut. What do I have to do to get them open?

first get a utility knife with a new blade.slowly cut the paint where the window sash meets the window frame.being the home is older the windows probly have some play in them, try rocking the window front to back and side to side to help loosen it.cut more if needed.then try to open it.if its stubborn put a piece of wood against the top sash and tap on it with a hammer attepting to push it up.tap gently!!try tapping close to the side sash ,tap a little left then a little right.
