Does anyone have any tips on how to apply door jams and hang doors onto metal studs? The total thickness of my walls is 2 and 5/8 inches consisting of a 1 and 5/8 inch stud faced with 1/2 inch drywall. My doors are solid pine and are not pre-hung. I intend to by 1 x 3s for my jams and screw them into the studs. I assume that I would place the screws where the door stops will be placed so that the stops cover up the screws. Any advice would be appreciated.

I myself would put a 2x3 inside the studs that make up the door frame. That would make the opening a lot sturdier. I wouldn't have the 1x3 screwed to the studs. I would prefab the door jambs around the door first and create a prehung unit and then place that into the RO.
