I moved into aparmnet house 3 years ago. It is almoust new apartement and wooden floors are in good condition except IT SQUEAKS. I have a problem with that to the extent to eather fix it or move. I heard there is a way to try to fix it with some long screws and I wander if you know how useful it is and what tools would I need first to find the places to fix it for and than for fow long will I be at piece.

Is there a better way to fix this problem.
I am only considering the option to do it myself!

Is carpet covering the plywwod subfloor that is squeaking? Or is it hardood or laminate, over the subfloor?

I wouldn't put a screw through either one! If it is carpet, it needs to be professionally cut open, or pulled back, along with the cushion. Then reinstalled after. Now you can see the joist/floor truss layout. If it is OSB and not plywood, then the nails must be pulled, because that is what is squeaking. The OSB is sliding up and down on the nail. OSB won't hold a nail.

Since you rent, who is going to pay this bill? Your cheap landlord? LOL! that made me chuckle.:)
