I have a Kenmore Self Cleaning Gas Range. It was purchased 5 years ago. The Broiler and top burners work fine. The problem is with the oven burner. If I turn the oven on to 325 degrees the glow ignitor lights up the gas like it is supposed to. But if I try to increase the temperature to 350 or above the oven burner flame decreases and gas odors are given off.

Hello Lang C and Welcome to our Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.

Based solely on this problem description, there may not be only one problem.

First, check the controls on the front panel. Could be an overlooked selection setting. Be sure the selections are all set to manual.

The oven selector or thermostat may have a "Keep Warm" cycle. If so, it could be stuck in that cycle or set into that cycle. If so, deselect it and set it to manual.

What happens if you set the thermostat directly to the wanted temp? Say directly to 350? Does the temp raise up to 350?

Be sure the temp sensor in the oven isn't touching any part of the inside metal parts of the baking compartment. It should only be resting in the supporting clips.

Kindly clearify the problem and add additional information. Do so individually for each suspected problem.

Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers instructional or owners manual & online web sites for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures, and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers and stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the possible problem causes. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Read the prior topics, within this forum, on this subject and the replies offered. I'm sure you'll locate the exact symptom and the correctional possibility.
