65 year old house. Has natural gas for water heater and central heating. I want to install a gas dryer. I will have to install piping to the utility room.

The house is raised, so it is easy enough to get at the piping.

What should I consider when attempting to tap into and install the gas piping?

Things I have already considered:
- securing gas source
- using proper piping material (black steel and teflon tape)
- pipe hangers
- installing shut-off valve at appliance

What am I neglecting (other than getting a plumber to do it for me)?
