| Grovel..... PLEASE accept my DEEPEST and most sincere apologies. I have had something of a personal emergency in my marriage that came first, but I am here now!! (better late than never?) I want to ask some more questions.....What exactly do you mean by colors? Are we re-doing cabinets? just walls? floors and countertops? appliances? Let me dash of some advice while the kids are sleeping about walls. If it were me (and these desicions should be based 100% on your likes)...I would paint the walls a nice pale yellow. Oh wait, I did!! Really, I have a very similar looking kitchen. Corner window, lots of cabinets, white countertops. My cabinets are white, tho. I like to put light reflecting colors in kitchens. Being a very busy room, I also like to put pastels and very soft colors in them. I try to stray from wallpapers, tho I have had some people very successfully use that method. I tend to also stay away from blues, and other 'mood dpressing' colors....or bright 'anxiety' colors...a busy room needs a comfort color or design. One of my favorites is chair rail molding with vertical striping above and a solid below. Of course, this works well in any room..but is still something of a rarity in kitchens, which gives it a great fresh look. Another nice move is to paint your ceiling a lighter shade than your wals, especially if you dont have a huge kitchen to enlarge the feeling of the room. My overall picks for walls in kitchens, pale yellows, light greys, an ice blue, pale greens......something that invokes more of a summery feeling..... If you needed advice on other objects as I asked above, please post more - would love to be of as much help as possible!!! Good luck! |
