Thanks for the response. I did some more checking and realized now that the burner is not turning on. I strongly feel it is the ignitor. I have ordered a new one and hope that will fix it.

Yes, that is foil paper on top. Why do you ask. Is that a bad idea? My wife likes to keep the area around the burners clean.
