| On the points thing, yes it is... sort of. Points/condenser setups pretty well got phased out around '86. The function of that setup was to switch between grounding the coil, then breaking the ground to allow the spark discharge.
The ignitor performs that function and sits separate from the coil. It's more of an electronic component.
In other systems you would still have a similar function to fire the coil. |
