I have 8 inches of insulation on the attic and an electric attic vent for summer, but when summer hits, the upstairs gets very hot very quickly and there is a bigger temp difference between the floors during those hot days.
The ideal setup is to have two independant heating/cooling systems, each one doing one level, but that is costly and in some cases impossible because of the duct setup
