| Porcelain Tile Removal
I am remodeling my bathroom and I'm having trouble figuring out how to remove the existing 4 X 4 porcelain tiles on the floor which are afixed directly to the plywood subfloor. The townhome was built in 1994 so I'm assuming that they've used a newer type of adhesive. I've managed to remove a 3 foot square section but that took me all day using a cold chisel and hammer but there has to be another, more effective method of removal out there. I've tried breaking the tiles from the top however these things are pretty tough and won't break. As I stated before the hammer and chisel method doesn't work very well either. A Air Hammer/Chisel would be out of the question due to the noise and proximity to my neighbors. Any suggestions? Could I tear off the subfloor while leaving the tiles glued down and then just replace the subfloor? Thanks in advace! |
