| Hardwood spliting at tongue?? I am installing a 7/16" Santos Mahogany hardwood floor using a HighPro stapler @ 70 psi and 1/4" x 1-1/2" galvanized staples. Every so often the tongue will split where the staple goes in. Is this ok and normal? It usually happens where the staples kinks up due to the harness of the wood. A friend of mine told me that galvanized nails/staples are softer than non galvanized nails/staples and that I might want to try non galvanized staples? Is this true and is it ok to use non galvanized staples? Thanks for any advise that you can give. |
