As noted above, you can't effectively spray your walls using an air compressor. Latex paints don't spray well with air, plus the overspray would be terrible. While an airless will spray most any coating [and I own 2] I rarely ever spray anything inside an occupied dwelling - to much work/time is wasted getting it in spray ready shape.. and clean up.

Without seeing your texture, I can only guess that a 3/4" nap roller would be the one to use. One trick to painting rough surfaces is to use plenty of paint. If you put enough paint on the wall, it will flow into all the crevices. After you've got it smeared on the wall - lightly back roll to make it look nice.
